About

Hena Singh

Hena Singh founded Singh Investigations & Mediations in 2020 after working on Bay street for over a decade as a leading Employment Lawyer and Workplace Investigator.

In addition to her vast experience and skills as a litigator, Hena is widely known for her use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods.  Hena uses ADR methods to explore creative and cost effective options for her clients, which often negates the necessity, or reduces the risk, of further acrimony or litigation.

Hena has conducted hundreds of workplace investigations for companies and organizations of all types and sizes, on issues relating to harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, violence, theft, fraud, misuse of technology, and more. She has also conducted mediations for employment-related issues ranging from wrongful/constructive dismissals, human rights matters, employment standards disputes, and class actions.

Based on her extensive expertise and unique skill set, in 2019 Hena wrote the book A Practical Guide to Conducting Workplace Investigations, an authoritative source of guidance and support for lawyers and HR professionals grappling with the complexities of this area of practice.

Hena is a Certified Workplace Investigator, a Certified Compliance officer, and, in addition to her LL.B. and B.A., has a Master’s degree in Psychology. She is also a Partner at Singh Lamarche LLP, which she co-founded in 2014, and is co-author of the book A Practical Guide to the Law of Terminations in Ontario (2010).

Recognized across Canada as a leading expert on workplace-related issues, Hena is a regular media commentator on these topics, making frequent appearances on CBC News, CBC Radio, and in the Globe and Mail, among many other outlets. She also receives numerous invitations to speak to more specialized and targeted audiences on various mediation, workplace investigations, employment law, and human rights issues.

When Hena is not mediating or investigating disputes for others, she engages in difficult negotiations with her toddler, during which she has experienced less success than in her professional life.
